SUSTAINABILITY

OUR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT POLICY
As Kalkan Suite Hotel, we believe that preserving the unique natural beauties, historical heritage, and cultural fabric of the Kaş/Kalkan region is as vital as the quality of service we provide to our guests. We recognise that tourism is not merely an economic activity, but a crucial tool for carrying our region into the future.
In this regard, we accept it as our fundamental responsibility to minimise our environmental footprint, enhance the well-being of the local community, and protect the biodiversity of our region. Within the scope of our Stage 2 Sustainable Tourism targets, we commit to using natural resources efficiently, supporting local producers, and providing our guests with an authentic experience of our region’s true spirit. Our goal is to meet the needs of today without compromising the right of future generations to experience the wonders of Kaş and Kalkan.
OUR POLICY ARTICLES
Our establishment has built its sustainability management system upon the following core principles:
1. Support for the Local Economy and Purchasing
Priority Procurement: In our culinary and operational purchasing, we always give priority to local producers, cooperatives, and tradespeople within Kaş/Kalkan and its surroundings. By doing so, we reduce carbon emissions from food transportation and contribute to regional economic development.
Geographically Indicated Products: We encourage the use of regional products with Geographical Indications (e.g., local olive oils, regional cheeses, citrus fruits) in our menus and present these products to our guests along with their cultural stories.
2. Local Employment and Equal Opportunity
Local Community Priority: In personnel recruitment, we prioritize local residents to ensure that the local workforce directly benefits from tourism revenue.
Fair Management: We provide all our employees with a safe and fair working environment that exceeds legal requirements, without discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, or belief.
3. Women’s Rights and Gender Equality
We place great importance on gender equality within our establishment:
We provide an environment where career opportunities are accessible to all on an equal basis.
We implement educational policies to support women's participation and increase awareness.
We maintain working conditions that protect the work-life balance.
We support the participation of women in the workforce across all departments and offer equal opportunities.
We operate with an "equal pay for equal work" policy regardless of gender.
We ensure women are supported in management roles.
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy against any form of abuse, harassment, discrimination, or coercion. We recognize the value women bring to the world and our institution.
4. Child Rights Policy
Children are the trustees of our future. It is our primary responsibility to recognize them as individuals, respect their rights, and protect them against all forms of psychological, physical, and commercial exploitation.
We strictly prohibit child labor within our institution and expect the same sensitivity from all our business partners.
We provide environments that contribute to children's development, where they can freely express their thoughts and feelings.
We provide training to our employees on the prevention and recognition of child abuse.
We ensure that children are under adult supervision during activities.
In the event of any suspicious actions involving children, we notify hotel management immediately and seek assistance from official authorities when necessary.
5. Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage
Cultural Respect: We inform our guests about ancient cities, historical structures, and sacred sites in our region, encouraging compliance with the rules set for their protection.
Authentic Experience: We use materials consistent with the local texture in our architecture and décor, introducing the traditional handicrafts and folklore of the region to our guests without distortion.
6. Environment and Biodiversity (Endemic Species)
Respect for Wildlife: We avoid any activities that may harm the habitats of endemic plant species and protected wildlife (e.g., Caretta Caretta, Mediterranean Monk Seal) unique to our region.
Waste and Pollution Management: We separate our waste at the source according to the "Zero Waste" principle, strictly preventing hazardous waste from entering nature to protect marine and coastal environments.
7. Energy and Water Conservation
Resource Management: Considering the water stress of the region, we monitor our water consumption and utilize reduction equipment (aerators, sensor taps).
Efficiency: To minimize energy consumption, we use LED lighting and energy-efficient appliances, and we evaluate renewable energy sources wherever possible.
8. Guest Awareness and Communication
We invite our guests to participate in our sustainability practices (towel reuse policies, energy cards, etc.) and to respect the local lifestyle when exploring outside the hotel.
